The Specialized Roval Traverse HD wheels deliver unbeatable control and pinch-flat resistance in severe terrain.
These wheels were developed in demanding trail environments, inspiring radical designs to exceed expectations for toughness and speed. The design includes the Specialized Roval zero bead hook design, allowing for a continuous fiber layup across the sidewall and rim bed. Paired with a 30mm internal rim width, this creates a wheel highly resilient to impact, offering low rolling resistance and incredible traction. This design also helps prevent "burping" during hard cornering and makes tubeless setup quick and easy.
The Traverse HD features a USA patent pending "5mm Flat Top" bead design. This optimized profile requires 85% more force to pinch flat compared to a standard round bead, virtually eliminating snake bites. The rim shape is focused on impact targets derived from factory enduro riders, and the build quality is designed for winning performance. The front and rear layups are tuned to enhance characteristics specific to their locations on the bike, ensuring durability and performance.
For ease of use, the wheels utilize 28 J-bend spokes for front and rear wheels, all the same length, making replacements easy to find. A new hub design features a wider profile and higher flange to aid in overall stiffness. A wider rim better supports the tire for increased confidence and grip, allowing you to run lower pressures that help spread impact out over a larger surface area to reduce the risk of damage. Combining this girth with the fast-rolling 29-inch platform results in an incredibly stiff, quick-to-accelerate wheelset that climbs just as well as it shreds descents.
The rims are hand-laced with DT Swiss 350 classic hubs via 28 DT Swiss Competition Race spokes and brass Pro Lock nipples. Inside, you will find sealed cartridge bearings and a 36t quick engagement ratchet system for quick accelerations. Each wheel is hand-built to ensure precision and quality.
